It’s good sometimes to take a step back and distance yourself from a project to get a fresh perspective. That’s just what we’ve been up to. We closed the shop the last two weekends for a special project…project refresh! We normally take a nice vacation every summer, and last year we just didn’t. We sure needed it! This year we even went so far as to vow to not pick. Believe it or not, we even needed a break from that! (But we did binge watch American Pickers in the hotels, and we did stop at one flea market:)
Our vacation started in Gatlinburg, Tennessee with the wedding of our daughter in the mountains, meandered through Asheville, North Carolina, over to Charleston, South Carolina, up to Pawley Island and the Myrtle Beach boardwalk, back over to Asheville, then home.
We filled our hearts with love with the addition of our new son-in-law.
We filled our bellies with good southern cooking and seafood.
We filled our souls with art and poetry. (and were affirmed that our ideas aren’t so crazy)
We filled our minds with history and new ideas.
We filled our bodies with fresh mountain air and salty ocean breezes.
We watched and listened to all sorts of people, southerners, and people from all parts of the world and witnessed that people are inherently good.
It’s good to be back home. To see everything with “fresh eyes.”
