Chairs

Those that know me (Tony) understand my passion for the found (must be cool) objects that I just can't allow to be thrown in the trash.

Recently I've been "saving" old chairs from barns, dumpsters, burn piles, yard sales, and gifts (term used loosely) from friends and family.

I restored two of them,  but others were too far gone to be brought back to the original status. So…. I started borrowing parts, mismatched pieces from unlike chairs to make a complete one. My first resuscitation was a simple replacement of a chair leg that didn’t match. The fun of it quickly grew into a hey-how-crazy-can-I-make-this kind of project.

I enjoy this much more than the generic restoration that has the result of a cookie cutter chair. The journey is more of an adventure when the process leads to a one-of-a-kind kind of chair.

With a grin I decided that these chairs would be called my “FrankenChair” series.

Can you see me smiling?

So before writing this blog I decided to Google “Frankenchair.”

GUESS WHAT?

It’s already a thing!

So much for originality. Oh well, as I always say...

It’s all about the process.
